brazil independence day

from festivities today in hartford celebrating brazil's independence from that country who had that guy in 1492 something something or other. actually the independence day was sept 7th, but who was i to point that out?

i've just started this long-term story on tom and theresa - she has severe cerebral palsy, he is blind. she is his eyes, he is her movement. it's quite a story and i'm following them through their wedding which is coming in may of 2007. here tom lays with her as she prepares to sleep. for now they don't share a bed, waiting for their marriage.
