memorial day

some shots from the placement of the flags for memorial day at a couple of graveyards. the girls are from a local girl scout troop, the other is a 88-year-old veteran from ww2.

i tell you what - after seeing this little piggy, maybe bacon for breakfast tomorrow isn't such a good idea after all.

in fact, maybe being a vegetarian isn't either.

i know, i know, my two blog readers are wondering - ross, why are you not updating your blog. well, mom and dad, that's a good question. i'm almost done with my neurotic project involving a disabled couple who likes me, a kitten which i'm allergic to, people who smoke one too many cigarettes and one woman who can't stand me.

but i'll be back, mom and dad, i'll be back soon. wait, i sound like the terminator.

hanging with granddad

this is an outtake from a story i'm working on for father's day - on a dad who is taking care of his father and his son under the same house. you don't see the dad in this pic but it's the other two relaxing before bed.

recovery

spent time last night with this woman at right - she lost everything to a fire - in one photo she checks out her new apartment with an old friend - the other is from her current temporary housing, with her daughter and granddaughter at left.

it was great spending time with them last night - the power of struggle and support is amazing to witness.

my new look

so thanks to yoon for figuring out what the toy was - and now i have an idea for my new look

hair coloring

out feature hunting - she was getting her hair colored while out with her sister and their two children.

i can't dye my hair - i don't have any - although i did dye my goatee once.

i looked like an idiot - or moreover, like that plastic toy from the 70's where you can take magnetic black pieces and drag it over a round bald cartoon face and create hairstyles. you used a red plastic stick with a magnet on the end of it to "draw."

does anyone remember the name of that toy? it's driving me crazy trying to remember...

off hunting

but you can't take the nc out of the boy. so good to be home this weekend. i miss these people.

this man at right is getting married tomorrow. the girls at left are not.

for some reason the hunting pics don't seem to be coming up - i'll put those up next week - i'm heading out of town for a few days and will be sans net till then.

tyshawn

a lot of what tyshawn does while waiting for his heart is just waiting. here he waits with his sister this evening as another night settles in. it's an outtake from tonight's shoot.

i've been with tyshawn twice now and i'm really drawn to his story. his quiet struggle is remarkable. i hope he gets a heart.
